In questi giorni ho provato ad effettuare il Jailbreak del mio iPhone 3G in modo da poter installare su di esso applicazioni di terze parti. Per effettuare il Jailbreak ho usato il software QuickPwn, aggiornato recentemente per supportare l’ultima versione del firmware disponibile, ossia, la 2.1 2.2. L’uso di QuickPwn è molto intuitivo ed il Jailbreak è avvenuto con successo in circa 7 o 8 minuti. Ad ogni modo, per semplificare la vita agli utenti non esperti, ho pensato di scrivere questo breve tutorial su come effettuare tale operazione. Da ricordare, inoltre, che QuickPwn può essere usato anche per effettuare lo sblocco degli iPhone 2G.

Di seguito elenco i passi da seguire per effettuare il Jailbreak dell’iPhone. Tutte le operazioni illustrate sono state svolte su sistema operativo Windows. Ad ogni modo, si ricorda che QuickPwn è disponibile anche per MacOSX.

  1. Aggiornare iTunes alla versione 8.0 all’ultima versione disponibile.
  2. Collegare il vostro iPhone 3G o 2G al PC/Mac tramite la presa USB.
  3. Prima di procedere con i punti successivi, è consigliabile effettuare un backup del proprio iPhone.
  4. Aggiornare il firmware dell’iPhone all’ultima versione: 2.1 2.2. Al termine della procedura, se avete un iPhone 3G, vi ritroverete con un iPhone aggiornato e completamente funzionante mentre se avete un iPhone 2G, vi ritroverete con un telefonino aggiornato ma bloccato. Non preoccupatevi! Usando QuickPwn, sarà possibile sbloccare nuovamente il vostro iPhone 2G.
  5. Scaricate QuickPwn 2.1 2.2, usando uno dei seguenti links: QuickPwn 2.2 (Windows), QuickPwn 2.2 (Windows), QuickPwn 2.2 (Mac).
  6. Se avete un iPhone 2G, scaricate anche questi due file.
  7. Senza scollegare il vostro iPhone dal PC/Mac, lanciate QuickPwn che riconoscerà automaticamente se il vostro dispositivo è un iPhone 2G o 3G (fig.1).

  1. Premere il tasto avanti per accedere alla schermata successiva.
  2. Premere il tasto “Browse” e selezionate il file relativo al firmware 2.1 2.2 originale, precedentemente scaricato tramite iTunes (fig.2).
  3. Premere il tasto avanti per accedere alla schermata successiva.
  4. Scegliere se installare Cydia, Installer (al momento consiglio di installare entrambi), se mantenere il logo ufficiale della mela o se sostituirlo con quello dell’ananas.
  5. Se state operando su un iPhone 2G, si ricorda di selezionare anche l’opzione “unlock”. Successivamente vi verrà chiesto di specificare la locazione dei file bl39.bin e bl46.bin.

  1. Premere il tasto avanti per accedere alla schermata successiva.
  2. Mettere l’iPhone in modalità DFU (Device Firmware Update). QuickPwn vi dirà come fare. Basta che seguiate attentemente le istruzione riportate a video (fig.4), facendo attenzione ai relativi tempi.

  1. A questo punto, se le operazioni sono state eseguite correttamente, dovrete attendere solamente la fine della procedura, per ritrovarvi con un iPhone completamente sbloccato (fig.6).

In these days I tried to Jailbreak my iPhone 3G to install third-part applications. To Jailbreak my iPhone I used the QuickPwn software, which has been updated to support the latest iPhone firmware: the 2.1 2.2 version. QuickPwn is very easy to use and in 7 or 8 minutes I obtained a fully unblocked iPhone. Anyway, to make the not-expert users’ life easy, I decided to write this short step-by-step tutorial. To remember, that QuickPwn 2.1 2.2 can also be used to jailbreak and to unlock iPhones 2G.

To Jailbreak my iPhone 3G I used the QuickPwn 2.1 2.2 Windows version, but the same application is also available for Mac OSX systems.

  1. Update your iTunes application (we will need the last version).
  2. Connect your iPhone 3G or 2G to the PC/Mac using the USB cable.
  3. Before continuing with the following steps, I suggest you to make a full backup of your iPhone.
  4. Update the iPhone firmware to the latest version (2.1 2.2). At the end, if you have a regular unlocked iPhone, you will obtain an updated and fully working iPhone otherwise, if you have a 2G iPhone you will obtain an updated but blocked phone. Don’t worry! Using QuickPwn, it is possible to re-unlock your 2G iPhone.
  5. Download QuickPwn 2.1 2.2, using one of the following links: QuickPwn 2.2 (Windows), QuickPwn 2.2 (Windows), QuickPwn 2.2 (Mac).
  6. If you have a 2G iPhone, download also these files.
  7. Without unplugging your iPhone, run QuickPwn which will auto-detect if your device is a 2G or 3G iPhone (fig.1).

  1. Press the ‘next’ button to reach the next screen.
  2. Press the “Browse” button and then select the 2.1 2.2 firmware file, previously downloaded by iTunes (fig.2).
  3. Press the ‘next’ button to reach the next screen.
  4. Choose to install Cydia and/or Installer (at the moment I suggest to install both applications), and choose if you want to preserve the original apple logo or if you want to replace it with a pineapple logo.
  5. If you are working on a 2G iPhone, if you need, remember to select the ‘unlock’ option. In this case, you will need to specify the location of the bl39.bin and bl46.bin files, previously downloaded.

  1. Press the ‘next’ button to reach the next screen.
  2. Put your iPhone in DFU mode (Device Firmware Update). QuickPwn will guide you on how to do this operation (fig.4).

  1. At this point, if you have done all operations correctly, you will have a fully unlocked iPhone!
