Apple Keynote: Firmware 4.0

Some hours ago Apple has released the podcast of the Keynote held yesterday, April 8th 2010, about the preview of the firmware 4.0. The firmware 4.0 will introduce a lot of new features and it will be officially released during this summer (June/July).

Jailbreak my iPhone 3G with QuickPwn

In these days I tried to Jailbreak my iPhone 3G to install third-part applications. To Jailbreak my iPhone I used the QuickPwn 2.1 software, which has been updated to support the latest iPhone firmware: the 2.1 version. QuickPwn is very easy to use and in 7 or 8 minutes I obtained a fully unblocked iPhone. Anyway, to make the not-expert users’ life easy, I decided to write a short step-by-step tutorial.

QuickPwn 2.1 Released

Yesterday, QuickPwn 2.1 (Windows version) has been released (the MAC OSX version has been released the past week). QuickPwn allows you to jailbreak every iPhone 3G and 2G with firmware 2.1, allowing to install third-part applications. During the next days, I will try to update my iPhone 3G to the latest 2.1 firmware and then I will try this new version of QuickPwn

VoIP and IM on iPhone

Finally, the VoIP on iPhone! In these days a Fring version for the famous mobile phone from Apple has been released. Fring enables VoIP calls and supports the most important IM protocols like: Skype, ICQ, AIM, MSN, Google Talk, Twitter, etc. Fring also enables VoIP calls using the SIP protocol.

The current version of Fring works only on 1.1.2, 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 firmware version.

iPhone 3G in June

As reported by many blogs related to the Apple World, in particular iPhoneItalia.com, it seems that the iPhone 3G version will be released at the end of June, current year. This news, not officially confirmed yet by the Apple, it was confirmed by the words of Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of AT&T Mobility which sustained the release of the iPhone 3G during the next months. Moreover, this news seems also confirmed by the recent results coming from the analysis of the new Apple-Phone firmware.

Zibri, who some days ago succeded in unlocking the 2.0 iPhone firmware (currently released as beta version), discovered into the new iPhone firmware some references to an Infineon chip, in particular the PMB8878, S-GOLD3 chip. This chip guarantees HSDPA category 8 (7.2 megabit in download) and WCDMA connections, in addition to the EDGE connection already supported by the chip of the current iPhone.

SDK iPhone Presentation

Yesterday Apple CEO Steve Jobs, during the iPhone Software Roadmap event, has presented the long-awaited iPhone SDK showing its great capabilities. I inform you that the full-video of the whole event is available on-line and I suggest to all iPhone and Apple fans to see it. It is possible to reach the video following this link.

The iPhone SDK will be available only for a Mac computers with Leopard operative system. Currently, the iPhone SDK is available only as beta version.
