By a news published on AppleBlog and then published on many other webportals/blogs related to the Apple world, I have just noticed that IBM has released an interesting PDF guide about developing iPhone applications on Windows and Linux, using tools like Eclipse and Cygwin.
I didn’t read the guide yet, but I think that I will read it as soon as possible in the next hours. You can find the PDF document following this link.

 Fring icon - Icona Fring

Ieri è stato ufficialmente rilasciato su AppStore, Fring, nota applicazione per dispositivi Mobile che permette di usare numerosi protocolli di Instant Messaging (IM) come ad esempio: MSN, ICQ, etc.
Fring, inoltre, permette di effettuare chiamate VoIP attraverso la rete wireless utilizzando Skype o qualsiasi altro provider SIP, purchè abbiate credito disponibile. La nuova versione di Fring è compatibile sia con iPhone 2G che con i nuovi iPhone 3G. Da notare che Fring è un’applicazione completamente gratuita.

In these days I tried to Jailbreak my iPhone 3G to install third-part applications. To Jailbreak my iPhone I used the QuickPwn 2.1 software, which has been updated to support the latest iPhone firmware: the 2.1 version. QuickPwn is very easy to use and in 7 or 8 minutes I obtained a fully unblocked iPhone. Anyway, to make the not-expert users’ life easy, I decided to write a short step-by-step tutorial.

QuickPwn 2.1 Released

Yesterday, QuickPwn 2.1 (Windows version) has been released (the MAC OSX version has been released the past week). QuickPwn allows you to jailbreak every iPhone 3G and 2G with firmware 2.1, allowing to install third-part applications. During the next days, I will try to update my iPhone 3G to the latest 2.1 firmware and then I will try this new version of QuickPwn

VoIP and IM on iPhone

Fring Logo Finalmente il VoIP è arrivato anche su iPhone! In questi giorni è stata rilasciata una versione di Fring per l’ormai noto telefonino di casa Apple. Fring consente di effettuare chiamate VoIP e di chattare supportando i principali protocolli dei più noti software IM quali: Skype, ICQ, AIM, MSN, Google Talk, Twitter, etc. Fring permette anche di effettuare e riceve chiamate VoIP utilizzando il protocollo SIP.

Segnalo inoltre che l’attuale versione di Fring è compatibile con i firmware 1.1.2, 1.1.3 e 1.1.4.

Nokia Tube

In these days some images, videos and rumors about the new Nokia Tube phone are beginning to appear on many blogs and websites dedicated to the mobile phone world. It seems that the Nokia Tube phone will be based on a high resolution touchscreen (16:9) very similar to the iPhone touchscreen. Tube will support GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA connectivity. Moreover, the new Nokia phone will support Bluethooth, WLAN, uPnP and will provide a GPS module. It also seems that Tube will support Java technology.
